OOS DS was accepted 12/7 to honors and Lerner school, received trustees scholarship at 17,000 per yr. today. puts it right in line with our instate flagship so a great option. Really liked the campus this summer hopefully they provide an accepted student program that is little more in depth. Stats 1470 SAT, top 10% class rank, Only 1 significant EC but a high time commitment and a part time job for the last 2 yrs at 15 hrs per week
Submitted 11/1, review email by 12/6, with 5 APs, all honors, lots of extracurriculars and language based awards for the three language program and SAT of 1250, no change on portal or acceptance as of yet though
@waf107 Re accepted students days⊠My UD 2020 did a school day accepted tour (not the weekend one). We had an accepted students info session, a private campus tour, and set up a visit with a prof in his major (who in turn invited him to a class that day). They offer many of these days. At the end of that day, he knew for sure that UD was his choice. We ended up going back to the April Decison Day just for fun - to get some swag, meet the potential roomie, etc. That day is set up well, but not the same small group format. If UD is a top choice, I highly recommend a weekday tour. I had to force him to take the day off from school, but he would agree it was the right way to go. Also, I strongly recommend looking at Rate My Professor for profs in the chosen major. Some departments are better than others.
Wow, my #2 just got his scholarship offer. $17k annual. Plus (shockingly) an aid grant, which I never expected. This would put his COA at less than my UD 2020, who had as good or better holistic application. UD is in his top 3, so accepted students days are going to be so important. Happy Monday!
Applied 11/2, accepted 12/7. 1560 SAT, 94.5UW all honors HS, job x 3 years, scouts, leadership. Older brother UD student.
Where on the portal are you finding merit information? My d was accepted 11/2 and still nothing on merit unless I just canât find it on portal.
i applied 10/4, got the confirmation email the same night, and heard back three weeks ago saying they want my mid year grades. does that mean itâs a deference or not?
@Raam1012 I donât know where it shows. I donât look at his portals. I suggested he check today and it was there. Also got it in the mail today.
If we donât hear by this Friday, will we have to wait until Jan to hear? The school closes this Friday until Jan 2nd. Iâm thinking about calling admissions.
@LMayPA My D applied for nursing major on 10/23 and had the âall completeâ email on 11/22, but hasnât heard back yet either. I have seen a couple of early acceptances so far for nursing, but I think no news is good news in this case. The recent nursing decisions have been either deferrals to later or requests for updated grades. No news either means the committee hasnât reviewed her application yet, or they have reviewed her and the decision will come out when they are done crafting the nursing class. We will impatiently wait until mid-January before inquiring on the status.
@Raam1012 - it shows up in my sonâs portal a little ways down from admissions decision. It is a blue highlighted link. I copied what it says but blue color didnât copy I guess. This is found right above where it says âInterested in changing your major?â
Financial aid information available:
View your Financial Aid Award Notice.
You click on the link and it takes you to a page with your merit and/or grant award Hope this helps.
I just confirmed with Admissions, if we donât hear by this Friday, we will have to wait until the 1st Friday in Jan.
@Sparcky, @mountainmomof3 - Thanks. I guess her merit info is just not ready yet. PatienceâŠsigh
My patience ran out - I called admissions about merit - was told that I wonât hear until end of January - they are just behind and with holidays/break - I wonât hear until after.
@Raam1012 - glad they gave you the info but sorry to hear about the long wait.
Ha! You guys are worried about merit, while the rest of us are waiting now 2-3 months for a decision on application. Chill out!
Hey now, no need for the âchill outâ. I get it totally! I am in no way comparing the wait for merit to decision. This is round 3 for me - just so happens this time around was quick with decisions - my oldest knew where she was going on April 30th. I get it! @jdcollegedad - I hope you hear really soon.
For some of us, merit has the same weight as acceptance. With the exception of two colleges, my daughter has applied to schools where she will get in, but merit will determine where she goes, all have solid PT programs. This is the only public out of state college she has applied to, so far, and itâs too expensive without merit scholarships. Sheâs my 3rd going through this.
No one knows anyoneâs individual situation. The one waiting for merit aid here may have just been rejected or deferred from their dream school or got in but didnât get $$ and canât afford to go there.
Didnât mean to stir any controversy! I do get that merit aid is important to the final decision. This is my third time through the process. My first was accepted to her dream school, Tulane, at full price but ended up at Rutgers with a $15k scholarship. My second was accepted to his dream school, Holy Cross, at full price, but ended up at Gettysburg at 1/3 of sticker price. It took him a year to fully embrace the decision. In the end, they enjoyed where they went and did well! For #3, my message was not to love any school until the numbers are in, and she has five flagships in play that she would be comfortable with. Two on her list have March 1st decision dates. UDel is high on her list, given that her 3 cousins attended, the campus is a good fit, the nursing school is awesome and it is about 2 hours from home. But if the numbers donât add up, there are good alternatives. I get to do this all over again next year with my high school junior! Good luck to all!
My oldest just graduated from Rutgers in May, luckily I have until 2021 to worry about #4 and #5!
