Class of 2023 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

I still have access and I know someone else who also does

Waiting on Ithaca as well. S has taken to not checking portals. It’s driving me nuts, but this is about him, not me. At least that’s what I keep telling myself. It’s his way of coping.

I’m just throwing this out there for those waiting on Ithaca and the whole portal open/closed thing…my D’s portal remained open even after she got the “no” snail mail letter. The MT rejection letter was a bit vague but basically said she was not accepted to their performing arts department but she could be considered for another major. We never called to inquire, but thought of this as a possible academic acceptance…anyway, the point is, her portal remained open even though it was a no for MT…

In my house, one of my kids’ Ithaca portals is open, the other is closed. They both auditioned on the same day at Chicago Unifieds. From our last experience, it sucks to be in California bc snail mail is REALLY snail mail. Just waiting to hear. Hang in there, all. It just takes one offer. Don’t get caught up in the numbers game.

It’s starting to look like a closed portal is bad news. We’ll sadly prepare for the letter. But an open portal doesn’t necessarily mean you’re in yet. Good luck to those still in the running. 10 more schools to hear from.

@Jpkcmo I still have access, but noticed that when you run IC Peers by Musical Theatre group, there are about 30 less students in the results than there were yesterday.

My S can access the portal but his status remains the same. Good luck everyone!

As soon as I posted this last message, my S sent a text that he has been accepted to the Honors College at Penn State. He applied for MT but has not heard on his artistic results yet.

@Jpkcmo I agree that an open portal doesn’t mean you are in. There are still a large number of Freshmen MT in IC Peers, over 150, so a lot of rejections still to come

Note - there’s a cross-reference list by date for those who self identify as "date anxiety "sufferers on p. 18 of this thread. Thanks @CaMom13

Jpkcmo, that’s wonderful news about Penn State Honors! He should get good scholarship money. Congrats!

Does anyone know anything about Elon? I know their last audition is Friday 3/1, but no idea how they notify…

Just to add to the confusion of this process, PSU’s information on Honors College says that a student will not be accepted into HC until they have been admitted to the University. His portal still shows him waiting on both university acceptance and MT acceptance. We don’t know if that foretells a positive decision from MT or like others have experienced, it could still be a no from MT but they’d encourage him to consider a different major.

D was notified via Email acceptance to Western MI MT on 2/19.

Last year, my D’s Ithaca portal remained open until the last weekend in March and then was shut down. They have been known to do rejections and acceptances in waves.

Elon notifies all on the same day, expected to be 3/15 this year. @valkyrie360

Thank you, @broach!

Sorry…what is IC peers? Is this something else I can obsess about? If so, please let me know!

Great discussion - thanks for putting this together to help calm our anxiety!

Just curious is NoCo University of No. Colorado? If so I believe they do rolling notifications. My S just got his first yes from them after the LA Unifieds.

Did anyone else a Wright State letter today?
It was an acting acceptance which was a big surprise (but not a bad one lol)
