I believe they do this to level the playing field since high schools calculate their GPA differently. Iā€™m sure you can appeal.

Son got the UD Trustees (OOS) Scholarship - $17K

Son got 10k.
1490 SAT
3.67/4.1 GPA, all honors and 4 AP, except language which is not offered as honors
2 varsity sports
3 year pres of a non profit
Independent research in field of study
Strong ECs

Anyone with similar stats get more $? Iā€™m asking because there was a glitch in his SRAR that had to be corrected. Wondering if perhaps the financial folks were working from the old numbers, or if this is to be expected with his stats.

I got 15k merit based
3.7 uw and 4.36 w GPA
1330 SAT
major: comp sci
waiting on Honors College Decisions heard those will start coming out after January 4th

Yes. EA nursing and from Colorado and no decision yet.

Congratulations! Are the scholarships listed in the initial acceptance letter?

Itā€™s all okay people. I got in awhile ago (11/4) but you still have a chance and it doesnā€™t mean anything if you havenā€™t heard yet. My friend has a 97/100 w and a 1390 and she did not hear back until last Friday despite her having higher stats than me. UD has an acceptance rate above 60% and they do take people who have been deferred. Donā€™t lose faith yet, you all are probably qualified and you can easily make it.

When the merit decision is available, you will get an email notifying you that thereā€™s an update to your financial portal. Do check your Promotion or Spam folders. A new blue ā€œView Your Financial Portalā€ button will show up next to the yellow ā€œSubmit Your Deposit Todayā€ button. Thatā€™s how we found out our D got the OOS Trustee Scholarship of $17K. Very welcoming news before the holidays! She was accepted on 11/4, admitted to Honors College on 11/20. Congrats to all who have been accepted and awarded scholarships! Good luck to those who are still waiting! Have faith, it will all work out!

Stats?

Do you get extra merit for being in the Honors College? I heard you get 5,000 from being in the Honors College Iā€™m not sure how that works though anyone know?

Did she get any extra merit for being in the Honors College? I heard they give each honors student 5k a year.

I think at least $5000, the rest is based on GPA this year (not additional, but total).

They didnā€™t specify. They just awarded the total amount.

We were very disappointed in my sonā€™s merit award. The letter states that he had a 1250 SAT and/or 3.4 GPA. Makes no sense. His SATā€™s were 1340(not good on english but aced the math) and below are his current stats. Doesnā€™t make sense that he only got the 10k award. Accepted into Mechanical Engineering on 11/4, just a few short days after submitting the app.

UW 3.89
W 4.32
Class Rank 21/364
Too many honors and AP to list, this year alone 5/7 classes are Honors or AP.

His merit award letter lists stats? My Dā€™s does not. Either way, if they listed his stats incorrectly contact the office of financial aid for reconsideration.

Interesting , we donā€™t have any stats listed and we have similar scores 1330 very high math we barely got any like 3k/year ā€¦like 12k all 4 years , got accepted with in a week Nov/4
Seems crazy how they are deciding this

My child has a 3.71UW and a 30 ACT and got $1000/ semester. Really ?

My son got the same letter with stats and he has a 1490 SAT and 3.7/4.1 GPA. Weird, and disappointing.

S21
Chemical Engineering major
Accepted to Honors program
17k oos Trustee Scholarship
GPAw 4.42 GPAuw 3.97 (These are recalculate on 4,0 scale. Our hs uses an unusual scale.)
SAT:1550
9 AP (including this year), several honors courses
3 sports varsity athlete

I donā€™t think it is unusual for schools to recalculate GPA. His HS transcript GPA in higher than recalculated on 4.0 scale because of the unusual scale. Our older son attends Temple U, they recalculated using only core classes when he applied.
