Was there a significant differential between the gpa in his letter and the one on his transcript?
Sounds similar to my son. Do you think heâs going to enroll?
There is a good chance. It was one of his top choices going into application process, but he has a few more schools to hear from. We donât expect to hear from those until at least January. So heâs in wait and see mode for now.
What about you?
Does anyone know if decisions can still be released even if office is closed?
Heâs applied to some âprestigiousâ colleges that wonât release results until April. Not sure why heâd go to them if he wants to do engineering, so UD is looking like the smart choice at the moment.
Does anyone know what percentage of students attend the winter session at Udel? We were excited about the merit award them realized that there is a 9 week winter break and if you take a course during that time it will cost approx 6k for OOS. Anyone have any insight?
My oldest graduated from UD in 2015. Never took a winter semester course for that reason, it was over 5k back then. That 9 week break is looong for both parents and kids, but it does give them an opportunity to work and make some extra money.
I can only speak from my time there lol. Winter session was great! I couldnât really guess a percentage but it is reasonably well attended but expensive. It was known then for an easy A and time to catch up for anyone who switched majors or to lessen the load during regular semesters. Not a must do by any stretch though!
My daughter received trustee merit of $17,000 and got into honors but did not receive notice of any additional merit from honors.
My daughterâs winter class is free due to covid (if you took 12 credits in the fall you could take up to 6 credits in the winter/summer for free, 15 credits 3 for free). She was originally accepted into a winter session in New Zealand (UD is big on study abroad), but will now be working in rehab at a hospital getting hours for her DPT.
@Mjkacmom. There will be none unless invitation to distinguished scholars weekend. They pick about top 100 applications and invite them to compete for about 15 full rides in
I think this response is for a previous poster, my daughterâs friend from HS got the DS award.
I donât believe you receive additional merit for honors unless you are selected as a Distinguished Scholar. If selected you spend a weekend in March competing for various scholarships ranging from the mid 20s to a full ride (they give out around 10 or so).
I wonder if they will still have it during these COVID times. Maybe some type of Virtual weekend?
@sparkleybarkley It was virtual last March. They switched three days before it was to begin as they had their first case of Covid diagnosed on campus the week prior to the competition.
Stats?
Ridiculousness
My daughter is a current freshman and is taking one course over break. It is a long break and she decided to take a class to have something to do. Her original goal was to travel abroad during winter break but that isnât happening this year and doesnât look good for next year either. Hopefully by junior year! It is a great way to get that travel abroad experience in a shorter period of time than an entire semester.
Same award here with a 34 ACT which concordes to a 1500 SATâŠwhy is the letter saying sat of 1240?
We didnât send the SAT score because ACT was higher. If they wanted or preferred SAT scores they should say so and not even say they are test optional.
Same award amount

Absolutely do not understand what the deal is and $10k and this Destination Delaware award isnât even on their new matrix. Itâs as if they are am saying they donât want your destination to be Delaware.
Disappointed
