Behrend would be the best choice for Engineering after UP as they have 4 year engineering degrees you can complete there, so the professors are good and the programs solid. But if you don’t want to go that far, then I agree with MYOS that I’d do Altoona next then Harrisburg. Harrisburg campus is in a suburb of Harrisburg and also has several engineering degrees, but Altoona is the closest campus to UP and therefore a lot of students still participate in many activities at UP (Football games, THON, etc). When you are doing a 2+2, you can complete the first two years of any major at a commonwealth campus. So find a campus that you like and want to live at for 2 years and go there. So for that reason, my order would be Behrend, Altoona, Harrisburg.
You will not hear of any financial aid until later. FYI - PSU is notorious stingy with financial aid. Meaning, for a lot of people, zero (other than loans).
It doesn’t matter if the major is not offered at another campus. Unless it’s a direct admit program (nursing, golf course management, etc) You can complete the first two years of just about any major at a commonwealth campus before you transition to UP for the last two years. The 2+2 campus that you start at does not have to have the major to which the student applied or will graduate with. As long as the ending campus has that major, that’s what matters.
Absolutely true. A friend’s son started at Altoona in a major only offered at UP. Will be a junior in the fall and transfer there.
Thank you!
Anyone get accepted with COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDERS major for University Park? I sent in application before early action deadline. Still in review.
Food Science. At least, she was told she would only be evaluated for UP for it.
Altoona first and Schuylkill second.
My son was notified yesterday that he was accepted to UP as a Food Science major. He applied 11/5. Good Luck
My son applied November 9th as a Global & International Studies major at UP out of state, but the site says his application is still under review. I read above that it is random how they release decisions, so fingers crossed.
Food Science is not a direct entry program, so she would be evaluated for UP campus first if that’s what she put as her first choice, and then if they can’t offer admission for fall, they’ll evaluate her for summer (if she checked yes) and if they still can’t offer her summer, then she will be offered her alternate campus location. Of course, if she won’t go anywhere but UP then it doesn’t matter if they offer a different campus - she would just decline the admission to that campus and go elsewhere.
My daughter in 2015 was a “UP or bust” student. If she didn’t get into UP she would have chosen somewhere else (Thankfully, she did get in). My son, on the other hand started at Altoona and loved it. Different kids want and need different things!
Are decisions coming out on the weekend
like today?
I’d say no to today because I’ve checked about three dozen times since getting up this morning. Tomorrow starts a whole new week!
ok thanks, has anyone is VA gotten their decision for EA?
If you didn’t fill out your SRAR by the deadline then you did not apply early action. They will consider you for priority.
ohh damn okay lol when do i hear back from them if that’s the case
Did anyone hear back for UP Computer Science?
My daughter heard this too
Would love to know if it’s true?
That’s great! So, she got her first choice campus. Congrats to your daughter!
She did, thank you.
