wait so decisions are coming out rn?
maybe for some ppl but I didn’t receive anything
so if we haven’t heard that means we’re probably deferred? that’s weird bc sooo many lib arts haven’t heard
It’s hard to tell. A couple of years ago they deferred a lot because they had such a huge increase in applications due to joining the common app. But that year was an anomaly.
That said. I would question who told your friend that. The people who answer the phone are not admission reps and they are not always in the know as to what’s going on in admissions. That answer seemed to be a “maybe” for deferral, yes and no. Not exactly concrete information.
Penn State does say from the start that an “answer” can be a deferral to priority decision (by Jan 31) but they don’t really like to do that.
Considering we’ve seen many 2+2 and summer decisions, a deferral would be simply because they ran out of time and not due to admissibility. It would stink for applicants though…
So that’s a really long way of saying I don’t know, but I hope not.
Also, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see more than one daily drop. That’s pretty common at this stage. Way back in 2014 when my oldest was accepted, she heard at 5:30pm and that was the third drop of the day. Antecdotally as that is, it does seem to occur yearly.
i don’t think it’s true tbh because so many lib arts students haven’t heard back yet. the admission officer might’ve been referring to the business/engineering/nursing majors just bc they’re so competitive and they only have limited slots but who knows
Yea I know a bunch who have t heard back!
All we can do at this point is cross our fingers and wait Hopefully there will be a few drops today!!!
i really hope so:(
Nothing has changed on the portal…this is like Waiting for Godot, lol.
It will change…right after you hear from another school… that gets you so excited you forget you’re waiting…and refreshing constantly on PSU!
It’s the beast of 2020!
Sadly no
Exactly. Us included so that can’t be right.
i am as well!
congratulations so random-- my son had a 1380 and 4.0 from a very competitive HS and was offered 2+2. There is no rhyme or reason…

If your son only wants UP we could provide advice/strategies.
