I liked that too! S got who he was hoping to get. It does help!
That’s the first (of 2 lol) we’ve seen of the assignment being named this early.

Son has been told studio for 3 schools so far-DePaul, Oberlin and Eastman. (The other two have only one teacher for his instrument so didn’t need to be indicated.)
Congrats!!
It does depend on the school. Some do teacher assignments at the time of acceptance, others do it as students are deciding on enrollment, and some do it the first week that classes start. All schools seem to be successful no matter the method. Still it’s certainly nice for the student to know in advance.
We are still waiting for NEC, Bard, and Mannes. Anyone have any additional insight into when any of these might release decisions? (Each say by the end of March, but getting impatient here…)
I’m still guessing Monday for Bard, based on past years…but it also looks like they usually e-mail in advance announcing the date, and we haven’t heard a peep…so who knows? I now have the first leg of our spring break trip booked based on what we know so far, and I’m waiting anxiously to see where else we’re going!
Anyone knows when Berklee college of music releases the decisions?
Thx! Hoping your theory on Bard pans out. And I hope you can get the rest of your trip planned out soon. Is Bard a possible stop on your trip? It’s so beautiful in that area-lots of quaintness!
Yes, if he gets into Bard then the potential routes get complicated. Right now we’re definitely headed to the Cleveland area to make a return trip to BW and to see Oberlin in case he gets off the waitlist…then we could either go to see Lawrence (accepted but he hasn’t visited yet) or Bard (which we saw last summer, but with few students around; he did a sample lesson last year online). We’re also waiting on Blair, but that’s 4 hours away, so easy to squeeze in either on the way back from others or as a long weekend trip sometime.
I’m so sorry to hear that, but I’m sure she’ll land in a great spot for her!
That could be quite the driving trip! Looking forward to hearing how it turns out.
Hi, we got a response from Berklee (yay). It was probably a month after the audition. They have rolling decisions, not a set date.
Accepted at Oberlin (cello)! Has anyone heard anything from NEC? A lot of the teachers at other schools reached out to me except for NEC and I’m wondering if that’s because of a lack of interest or if that’s just not how they do things there. Anyone have any insight?
Oh I didn’t know they have rolling decisions., thanks for the info.
Have any Violinists heard from Eastman on decisions? Just getting a little impatient since the admitted student days are in two weeks…
Congrats on Oberlin! My impression is that NEC instructors aren’t as communicative with applicants as other schools. My son reached out to a couple about trial lessons. Only 1 replied-and she said she doesn’t do trial lessons. (Although he was invited to sit in on a class.) We are also waiting on NEC for a decision and thinking it may be closer to end of month than we hoped.
Eastman was a no for us. Amazed and proud that she is taking it so well. She loved the sense of community there, and the two professors. Can’t win 'em all! Onward and upward …
Absolutely-- thank you for sharing.
Onward and upward indeed.
I haven’t commented but I’ve been following this thread for a while!
I have acceptances at ASU and Mercer for MM collaborative piano… is there anyone who can speak into the quality of either of these programs? (Particularly Mercer, I loved ASU but it would cost much more and am trying to weigh if it’s worth it!)
Ack i know no one has a crystal ball but what does it mean when you sing your two songs and they ask for the first verse of a third? The first and only time it happened and it was at Curtis
My best guess is that the panel wanted to hear something that was not covered in the first two selections. Perhaps a different range, tone, technique or genre.
