A friend and I were wondering about reporting class rank (or including extra notice) when applying to colleges after spending high school in more than one school. When I was in 10th grade, I changed schools for non academic reasons. For whatever reason, grade inflation is more common at my current school due to teachers grading more leniently.

I currently have five Bs, four from freshman year (combination of hard year, other school) and one from junior year. My GPA from the other school (including some high school classes taken in middle school) is 3.82, and my GPA based on my current school is 3.96. Overall, it's a 3.89 which puts me at barely top 10% in my class.

I know that not all top colleges consider freshman grades heavily (such as Stanford and Princeton) but virtually all supposedly consider class rank to some extent. So my questions are:

Do college admissions officers (or websites) usually address school transfers and how it affects how class rank is considered? I haven't found one so far.

Would it be reasonable to ask a school counselor to either 1) adjust class rank to account only for grades from the current school, or at least 2) comment to that effect on the forms sent to the college by the school

Other suggestions welcome, please. :)
