Class Rank Help??

Do Honors and AP classes carry the same weight when determining class rank? I think I need to drop AP Chem and move into Honors, but I don't want this to affect my ranking....

Also, does rank shift in relation to classes others are taking?

Yes to both questions. It also affects your weighted GPA. However, if you’d do better in honors, it’d probably be best to switch then.

Thank you. And yes, I think it is best for me to switch, especially if AP and Honors carry the same weight. I know I can get the As in Honors; it should prove much easier than AP. :)

I’m sorry, I read your 1st question wrong. AP carries more weight.

I was wondering about that… Thanks :)

Check with your counselor or someone in the guidance dept. The weighting rules vary WIDELY between high schools across the u.s. Usually, AP is weighted heavier than honors, which is heavier than “regular”, but it is not always the case.

Ok, I already have an appointment with my dean on Tuesday. Thank you.
