So I got to a small private school in New England. I only have 60 kids in my grade so its pretty small. Our school does not publish rank but does give the Cum Laude Award. I didn't get it this year, so does that hurt my chances of getting into a top college which has 80%+ of their kids in the top 10%? Over the last three years I have taken the most honor/APs/College Classes in my grade but because of that my GPA was ehh. I'm kinda confused.

If you look at the CDS data, you’ll see that most admits do not submit class rank at many top colleges. For example,

Harvard: CDS says class rank is “not considered”
Stanford: 37% submitted class rank
Yale: 31% submitted class rank
Princeton: 26% submitted class rank

Stats like 80% in top 10% can be misleading when you are only considering a minority of students that submit class rank.
