Class Registration for Freshman

Hey I’m a high school senior who just got admitted to USC and intend to go there (deposit is down). I have some questions regarding the class registration process that I hope some current USC undergrads may answer. What is the exact time that freshmen can start registering? I looked up online and it says that freshmen can register during the summer orientations, which leads me to my second point. I’m an international student. My orientation is not happening until the end of August. Doesn’t this put me at a disadvantage against native kids who can attend orientations in June or July? I know classes can be filled up quickly so I want to register asap so I can get into classes that I want and schedule them in the way that I can take Friday off. Thanks.

Yes and no. Those who go to earlier orietations will get to register for classes before you, but USC does hold spots in several GE classes for each orientation period. They open these 10 slots (example only) on the last day of each orientation period around noon. There will also always be room in many classes regardless. Taking Friday off as a fall freshman may not be possible, though, even with an early orientation. You are registering after all the upper class men have registered as well. In the future, you will register by seniority- with athletes and then seniors with lots of credits first.
