Class rigour, or GPA more important? Need help in picking a class

I'm currently a first year at a state university, looking to transfer to Bentley/UCLA. I took AP Calculus in my senior year of HS, I got a 5 on the test, had an A+ all year.

Now my question is, will anything be held against me if I decide not to use my credit and just take Calc 1 over again, easily passing it, and boosting my GPA? I understand you need to send your HS transcript, so I suppose they would see my grade and that I'd taken the class already.

So my choices are either to:

1) Take Calc 1 (a less rigorous course) over again, boost my GPA
2) Take Calc 2 (more rigorous), risk lowering my GPA

Which would be the more preferable option?

What major or areas of study are you interested in?

Regardless, you’re focusing too much on the difficulty level of the material. In reality, if you could handle the calc I material, you’ll be able to handle the calc II material.

In college, especially freshmen year, it is more about time management and work ethic.

I’m interested in Mathematical Science. Financial engineering and that kind of stuff.
