don't take 4 core classes. It's your first semester, and if you're not careful it'll sneak up on you from behind, and not in a good way. It'll sneak up on you in the same way that your 400-lb, 6'3" cellmate Bubba in the San Quentin State Prison sneaks up on you. In the shower. And there ain't gonna be no grease.

So long story short, it's your first semester, better to ease into things than just jump into the fire and get owned. So I'd listen to the advisor.

I would be against 4 core classes as well. Since you're doing two majors with lots of prerequisites, you should try to balance it out. Take at least one breadth your first semester.
