Everyone has been recommending UofR to me for neuroscience and music, and from visiting their website I'm seriously thinking about it. I'm a southern Californian, have been forever, so I don't know how I could take the snow, but I think I could get used to it. Anyways, how are class sizes there? "Big" is over 20 to me. The other places I'm considering are a lot smaller.

lol, well kudos for being brave enough to contemplate living in rochester after adapting to the hot socal environment haha. But dont worry i have some friends from California who are going to rochester - and its fairly simple to live comfortably without freezing your tail off. there are tunnel systems throughout campus - dorms are kept heated (thankfully haha) and i mean if you dress nicely you should be fine. Spring, Falls, and Summers here are beautiful though , and the season changes are beautiful something that you dont see much of in Cali.

Now, University of Rochester is a University, albeit a small one. Introductory Courses have enrollments of up to 150 people in the class - its' a lecture class. But dont let this dissuade you because this is how it is at allmost all colleges - introductory course wise. Once you get past the first year or so, you will have very small class sizes with a great professor/student ratio. I dont know the exact ranking, you can find this, but Rochester is i believe in the top 10 or at least top 15 of the best faculty/student ratios..which obviously proves that there is a good attention for students and good class size.

University of Rochester may seem bigger than those small itty bitty colleges- but keep in mind that you are looking at a renowned institution with a LOT of faculty and they really do have some prestige so the class size is just proportional.
