I applied for the fall 2009 and right now i am doing the updates for the planned courses.
But then I found out there is Cross Enrollment i can take one class from 4year school for $22.
And since i am done with all math classes at community college level, i want to take upper math class with Cross Enrollment. Not sure wut class to take.. and this part time will affect my unit limits either... any one kno?

(Math/econ major)

Anybody kno whats the usual class to take right after LA/DE???

Before you sign up for classes, talk with an admissions counselor about your specific situation.

Whatever you do, do NOT take classes from a CSU.

It's okay to take upper divs at a UC during summer sessions or cross-enrollment or whatever. Just make sure you don't take more than 10 units if you have 70 or more UC transferrable units (10 UC units + 70 CC units = 80 transferrable units = the max number of units you are allowed before transfer).

After lower division linear algebra, math majors take an upper division linear algebra course. The material is pretty much the same as the lower div. course, but the upper division course emphasizes proof and abstraction more than your CC course.

A proof-based linear algebra course is usually the first upper div. course math majors take.

why not CSU???
because units dont transfer??
I was actually thinking about taking it at CSUF..
if units max gets in the way... ill just not report this class to UC..
I will just take it for my experience. and if get accepted to UC... maybe then.. ill ask UC if they can transfer this unit.. is dat ok??

strategy of proof
proof-based linear algebra dont.. work for my schedule.. and pre-requisites..
but proof-based differential equation works :D
but please clarify me on NOT CSU

I'm a math major too and I wanted to take a math class at San Jose State last year. I asked my counselor about it and here is what she said:

"I finally reached the UCB counselor and she confirmed that it is NOT advisable to take classes at SJSU even if it is through Open University - these units will count against you in terms of admissions to the campus. I know it sounds strange discouraging a bright student like you from pursuing challenging coursework but that's the verdict I received."

Still, you should talk to the counselor at your community college about your specific situation. But, in general, it is not very easy to transfer CSU courses to UC.

And definitely, do NOT take the course for credit without listing it on the application and THEN tell them about it later. Apparently, they will kick you out of the school if they find out you lied on your application.

If you just want the experience of the course, you can always just sit in on lectures without actually registering...

OMG... thank you!!
i got nine months till transfer doing no math at all but at physics class..
this should be really helpful! thanks..
but do they just let you sit in on lectures?? dont they kick you out for insurance or safety issues or something???
