Is cross enrollment allowed for UCs?

I wanna take a community college math course while attending a UC. Is this allowed?

[University of California - Types of enrollment](http://universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/transfer/requirements/types-enrollment/index.html)

I was curious about that as well. I asked an advisor at UCSB and was told I would need to petition. I’m guessing it is the same at all the UC’s, call to make sure.

Graduate schools are very suspicious of students who are enrolled in a four year college or university taking difficult required classes such as Math at a community college rather than the four year institution they are enrolled at. Rightly or wrongly they suspect you may be trying to evade a difficult class at your four year school by taking a less rigorous version of it at a CC.

@lematire1 what if we just can’t afford the expensive tuition? lol

I don’t understand, if your attending a UC full time then you pay a fixed tuition whether you have 12 units or 20 units, why wouldn’t you just take the class at the UC since it costs you nothing?

It’s allowed if you ask UC counselor. I took Art history 4B and Hist 4B at Foothill and I had a lot of UCSD and UCI students in my classes. It just helps to speed up getting your general ed done

You don’t save a single cent by taking classes at a CC as mentioned before, you pay more.

I transferred to UCI. In the last two years I took 100 quarter units during the year. That’s about 17 per quarter. I’d have paid the same amount if I had only taken 72 units.
