For interest in Pre med/pre physician’s assistant, should I take AP chem or Physics? I am already taking AP bio but I only have room for one more science class, unless I double up with AP chem and physics senior year. I was planning on doubling up anatomy with either AP chem or physics but I don’t know which one.
You should take Bio,Chem, Physics and then at least 1 AP version of those.
You don’t need to double up on AP Lab sciences for college.
Anatomy isn’t really necessary in HS…it is needed for pre-PA in college but not for Pre-med.
Anatomy complements well to AP Bio though so it is fine to take.
For pre-med, not all medical schools will take AP credits for Bio/Chem/Physics so you will probably need to take them in college.
This.
Get physics out of the way. Under no circumstances would I suggest doubling upon AP Bio and AP Chem. Taking 2 AP lab sciences concurrently is killer. In addition to the time commitment required by virtue of being AP’s, each requires a lot of time for labs and lab reports. For many schools, these classes are either double-periods, or require additional time before/after school. Maybe you are the 1% of the 1% who can handle these 2 together without your grades tanking, but that’s something for you and your GC to confirm. Even for a prospective STEM major, colleges would rather see a balanced schedule covering all core subjects.
