I really wanna be a doctor. The problem is, I’ve taken REGULAR bio and chem. I regret Bio because I got an A, but I’m comfortable in regular Chem because it’s hard for me(I have a B). I’ll be a junior next year, and I’m not sure which class would look better. We aren’t allowed to take AP physics or AP bio yet. Either AP Chem or Physics. What should I do? doesn’t it look better to take Physics and get it over with?
yea, i would get physics in so you have the trifecta (bio, chem, physics) completed. Consider AP chem senior year. None of this should matter too much if your goal is pre-med
If I were you I would take AP Chemistry first since you are already taking it. AP Chemistry is usually an extremely tough course for many, even those who take it right after honors chemistry. Since it’s fresh in your mind, you should take that first and get it over with, then AP Physics senior year. Physics is another tough course, with a substantial amount of math, so it’ll be a drastic switch trying to go back to chemistry your last year. Save yourself the headache and do AP Chemistry next.
I agree with the above. Take AP Chem next year then take a physics course senior year.
Should I take AP Chem or AP Bio my senior year?
Whichever class you’re more comfortable taking and think you’ll do well in.
Also consider that if you want to be a doctor you may want to take both AP classes while in high school and then take both classes again while in college, rather than transfer in the AP credit. If you decide to transfer in your AP credits you will have to take higher level physics/Biology classes and your GPA might suffer. Medical schools require a grade given for these classes while in college, not in high school. Also, it will be easier to get that A if you already have a solid background in the material.
I actually had this discussion with a friend of mine who’s a doctor. He chose to transfer in all his AP credits and as a result his undergraduate curriculum was excessively difficult. He has advised his daughter who’s applying to BS/MD programs to not transfer in any AP credits because of this.
