I know this may seem odd, but recently my university closed today and yesterday, aka Monday and Tuesday. As of 7 am EST Tuesday, it was announced that there would be class on Wednesday. The weather will be worse than Monday and Tuesday in terms of cold. As predicted by a friend whom is an expert in weather prediction, as he has only been wrong twice so far. He predicts that wind chill will be at around -35 degrees Fahrenheit with it being around -15 outside. I have to walk a total of about 3 miles outside to get to and from classes.

I have a terrible cold intolerance from Anemia. I'm not sure if I should go out or not. The 3 miles equate to 5 classes in total. Should I go?

I don't remember it being this cold for quite a few winters.

It’s not worth putting your health at risk. You’re an adult. Weigh the costs & benefits and decide whether or not you should go. Personally, I’m asthmatic and I’ve made the decision not to go more than once because I’m just not risking it.

I hope you waited until this morning to make the decision. Nothing wrong with deeming it too cold to go outside, just couldn’t help myself about the “expert weather predictor.”

If you have an actual, documented medical reason why you couldn’t go to class, you may be able to talk to your professors about being excused (if attendance is mandatory or you had some quiz or something), or you may be able to talk to your disability services office about getting registered to see if they could get you a notetaker or something, if this happens again in the future.
