Are there any classes at Penn that are only available to Wharton students? I'm asking because I'm not sure which school to apply for at this point, and I want to know if being in CAS or SEAS will prevent me from taking any Wharton classes I may be interested in.

You can take a limited number of Wharton courses as a non-Wharton student – you just need to have a Wharton email made for you so you can access Webcafe.

i believe cas students are restricted to a certain number? like 4? (someone correct me on that)

whereas as a seas student i took 8…

^ That number is correct.

Ok thanks! And is the reverse true at all? Can students at Wharton take any classes at the SEAS and/or CAS that they want to?

That is true as well. Even better actually, as there’s no limit for number of classes a Wharton student can take in CAS or SEAS as long as he/she fulfills the graduation requirement.

and CAS/SEAS students cannot take mgmt100 to the best of my knowledge regardless of quantity limits.

I believe that MGMT100 is Wharton-only; also I believe that ECON010 is Wharton-only. The 4-course limit for CAS students is that only four non-College courses may be counted toward the graduation requirements. If you take more than 4 courses in schools other than CAS, they are still listed on your transcript and affect your cumulative GPA, but they don’t fulfill any general or elective requirements.

Ok thanks. I’m glad there isn’t a hard cap on the number of classes that you can take.
