Classes to take over summer at community college?

I have decided that I will be going to UIUC and am very excited about this. However, I was thinking about taking some summer courses at my local community college to get rid of some gen eds and wanted to see what you folks think. I will be going into Computer Science (Engineering dept.) and noticed it requires General Chemistry and Calculus 1-3. I already finished Calculus 1 -2. So, would it be a good decision to take Calculus 3 and General Chemistry at my local community college?

Thanks

If UIUC will give you credit for it once admitted, I think that might be a great idea. However, if you are a transfer student I would recommend maybe trying to get an internship instead, unless you’re worried about graduating on time.

For chemistry, just keep in mind that community colleges may have two types of chemistry: one which is more introductory and a regular chemistry class which will transfer over. Make sure to take the right chemistry class which will transfer over as the class you need. Chemistry might be a weed out course for premed students at UIUC so I think it’s a great idea to take it in community college since you’re going into an entirely different field. However, also keep in mind that summer classes are very accelerated so that would increase their difficulty, but you may not have to worry so much considering it’s only two classes.
