After factoring in AP classes and community college classes, I realized I only need about 12 classes, not including what I need for Upper Division levels for my math major. Does this mean I can just take a year of classes, then shift to major-specific classes, or e.g., my junior year, since I am currently entering with about 56 credits as well (9 AP classes, 5 community college courses, 14*4=56). I've heard about a lot of people who managed to graduate from undergrad in 2-3 years, rather than all 4, and wonder if this was how they did it. I mean, yeah, college is nice and it's pretty bad to rush through it as fast as I could, but I'm in bit of a money problem, and loans+high interests starting today do also need to be factored in, and saving a year of college tuition will be extremely helpful.

Did you make sure all those classes are transferable? You may have received credit, but some may have been elective credit only.

Regardless, you are coming in with sophomore standing + a quarter. That is very good, and I’m sure you can take a year of classes and then shift to major-specific as long as you make sure you are taking classes that actually count (GE or Major etc.). And yes, this is exactly how they did it. Summer school and academic schoolyear classes all year and coming in with credits like yours.

Something you should consider in planning your college career: Not all classes are offered every quarter.

@Zairair Yeahhh…I’m picking classes atm for Fall via online orientation (can’t attend any of the orientations for UCI) and I can see how that system works.

@Junshik I’m not entirely sure how community college courses work, but yeah, I’ve checked in terms of AP tests. I think classes like Dance Appreciation and Theatre Appreciation taken at El Camino and Harbor College should qualify under category IV of UCI, but yeah, really wished I met up with a counselor first regarding all of this. But yeah, need to see how this plays out…

Have you checked this site: [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org)

It tells us what classes are transferable from a CC to a uni.

hi, sorry to interrupt, but if it is transferable
does it mean it counts for UC GPA?

@Junshik Thanks a lot, really needed that site, didn’t know it existed though
@letsgo7 Not too sure, ask ^^

Bump…Need to know whether it counts for UC GPA?

Community classes won’t count for your GPA at UCI while you’re still in UCI.

However, I am not sure if they will be factored with your HS GPA for admissions if you took CC classes in the summer during your HS.
