Journey’s bland, boring, and dated. If you expand you’re musical horizons, you would probably agree with me. ;)

Did I ever say it was underground? Dookie came out in 94. When most sophomores/juniors were born.

Geeze, chill out it wasn’t a big deal. Don’t get all offensive over a CD.

I think Dookie is better than all of their stuff and MANY (is that better wording for ya?) hs-ers don’t know what Dookie is. Do they know the songs? Absolutely. Do they know that the people behind American Idiot were also behind Dookie? Many times, no.

I didn’t think that anyone thought Green Day was a new band after American Idiot was released. I seriously doubt more than a few do. Green Day has always been a huge band. And these people will most likely go out and learn about Green Day’s older albums anyway. EVERYONE does that. Do you think you’re so cool for knowing and liking Green Day’s older stuff? I see so many people like this. It ****es me off.

At least Green Day is continuing the tradition of punk bands being political.

What are you TALKING about? For one, I have said this repeatedly on HSL (about Green Day). For two, sorry IN MY EXPERIENCE, MANY hs students don’t know Green Day from before American Idiot.

What the hell is wrong with you people? Do you really have that much spare time on your hands that you need to critique something so pointless and try to extrapolate information that doesn’t exist? I don’t think I’m cool because of Dookie. I could care less.

ETA: But thank you for reminding me why I left HSL for so long. I couldn’t remember.

GREEN DAY SUCKS

I just thought I would liven up this discussion a bit more :p

YOUR MOM SUCKS.

See what I did there.

Ever thought that maybe what you’re saying is coming across wrong romani? That better explains why 3 of us went on to point out you’re superiority complex (or what came across as such)

^ Hmm… perhaps. But quite frankly, I don’t care. Trust me, I’ll live with a few people on here not liking me. I’m going to disappear from here mighty quickly anyway.

FWIW, Journey, KISS, and Aerosmith are the best classic rock bands IMO.

ETA: It could be that I have a superiority complex (which I don’t) or it could be that people on here take things WAY too seriously and read WAY too far into things.

WHAT IS ETA! All I can think of is Estimated Time of Arrival. hahah.

I dunno, but CTA is a great album

What annoying is that the Classic Rock stations don’t play much of the Classic Rock that I like… Where I live the “Classic Rock” station plays mostly Van Halen, Motley Crue, Poison etc. Basically glam rock, and don’t play much of either 60’s/70’s stuff like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Jimi Hendrix or any Prog like Pink Floyd or Rush (I also like Dream Theater and Symphony X but as they are more recent bands they wouldn’t be classic rock yet)

^what is this madness???

Van Halen is the best band from the 80’s hands down. Poison sucks

I’ve always thought American Idiot was deeper than Dookie or Nimrod, but just my opinion

No I do see what you did there. I was all excited for hidden e3 words, but there were none :|

^ I agree on Van Halen being awesome and Poison (and Motley Crue for that matter being terrible) problem is that the stations only ever broadcast the DLR-era Van Halen and give no love to “Van Hagar” which I really like… Right Now is definately my fave Van Halen song.

from reading this thread, it looks like discussing music is like discussing politics and religion. don’t mess with music.

^Touche.

And Van Halen is not the best band of the 80’s, not even close.

Again, “classic” rock is generally 2 decades ago. That would be the 90s now.

How do you think our parents felt hearing Kiss and Aerosmith on the classic rock station when they were younger?

Holy cow do I feel old now.

The Smiths says hi

Indeed, The Smiths are way better and even they aren’t my favorite 80’s band probably

Though, it’s likely the people that mentioned Van Halen have never listened to The Smiths.

80s rock was split into 2 groups: New Wave/post-punk, and hair metal. Most people seem to love one and hate the other.

I’d vote U2.

REM is pretty cool, too.
