Does anybody know anything about the Columbia's Classics Department (like studies in Latin, Greek, ancient world, etc)? Is Classics a popular major among Columbia undergrads? How good is Columbia's Classics Dept? Thanks in advance!

Don’t know how popular it is, but it is extremely good. Columbia’s Core Curriculum means it needs to have wonderful professors in topics like classical history, art history, etc. It is consistently a highly ranked institution when it comes to classics.

It’s great. Columbia takes classical education very seriously, what with the Core and all. That said, the Classics department is small and friendly and gives undergrads great contact with professors. But the grad student instructors are good too, from what I’ve heard.
