General Comments: So excited for school in September!

No - actually this is helpful. The boarding school review information is out of date. Also, it helps give an idea of trends in the admissions process. It appears kind of a random process, indicating that the admissions officers really do pay attention to the individual applications.

[] Essays: I thought I had put a decent amount of effort in them. My point was made, and my passion for the arts came through. I guess it just wasn’t enough.
[] Teacher Recs: I was the least worried about my teacher recommendations. I maintain good relationships with my teachers and stand out in all aspects of Math and Literature. My personal recommendation was made by my piano teacher whom I’ve been with for eight years. I know that she wants nothing but the best for me, and I know that she did what she could.
[] Principle/Counselor Rec: Oh dang. Yeah, this didn’t go too well. I contacted my counselor about a week ahead of time, but she ignored my email. So, I went to her office. I scheduled an appointment, but she wasn’t too happy with the idea of me leaving the school, so the first thing she asked me was why I hated my school. Prior to my Phillips application, I had never contacted her before. The overall interview was disastrous.

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Above Average I guess. 8 or 9/10. I’m a very good writer but i didn’t slave over them like most on CC. Used the same essay for the two I was accepted too. Wrote them all week they were due but had an ivy educated look over them if it matters.
[] Teacher Recs: English: 8 or 9/10, I’m really good at English (99th SSAT) but my english teacher isn’t my biggest fan. Math: 7/10. I suck at math (relatively: 80s SSAT) and we don’t get on that well. Other recs: 9.5/10. Very good from 2 school teachers but probably mentioned my terrible oranization.
[] Principle/Counselor Rec: OK, got my homerom teacher to do it. Never spoken to my principal or Counselor outside enrollment

Probably headed to Groton. To all you young applings stalking the thread best of luck. [] SSAT/ISEE/TOEFL/PSAT: 96 overall
[] GPA Unweighted-Weighted: 97% GPA (not sure what weighted/unweighted means?)
[] Rank: Top 5%
[] Other stats: Lowest grade sent out was 89% in science, which was unusually low for me. Next marking period, though, it turned to 102%. Throughout middle school, my lowest grades were two or three high B’s. I always made the honor roll.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays:
Formal Essay:The hardest I’ve ever tried. I procrastinated a bit, but I worked hours each day on it. I took inspiration from the book, 50 Successful Harvard Application Essays. I think it was really good.
Short Essays: Ehh, OK. Peddie didn’t ask for a formal essay, so all they saw were my not-well-thought-out short essays. One of them could’ve been written in less than an hour. I revised and worked on all of them before sending them out to Lawrenceville.
[] Teacher Recs: LA was too good to be true. Probably top check for everything. Not sure about math, but that teacher thinks I’m some sort of genius, and I give him my bananas after lunch
[] Principle/Counselor Rec: It’s the only one I saw. Top check for everything. The LA teacher helped my counselor write it, so that’s how I know my LA rec was good too. Since I never talked to my counselor before, she called me down to her office and we had a conversation. Apparently she really liked me. Peddie received my counselor recommendation after the deadline.
[] Hook (if any): Sibling at Lawrenceville. He’s loved by the teachers.[/ul]
Interviews: [ul]L’ville Interview: I loved my interview. It was casual, more of a conversation really. My interviewer was lovely and really nice, and we just really enjoyed talking. It was about 15 minutes long.[]Peddie Interview: Err. I was nervous. My voice was shaky and my words kind of slurred. My hands were freezing for the handshakes (I don’t think she even wanted to touch them) and I was trying too hard to avoid short answers (she was probably a little annoyed sometimes at my rambling answers). Overall, though, it was OK. She said I seemed like a good candidate.[/ul]
