Clemson Admissions Questions

At our suburban Pittsburgh high school in 2016 9 applied 3 accepted in 2017 14 applied 8 accepted and in 2018 13 applied 3 accepted.

Based on that small sample size it does not look like a quota from a particular school.

It is my understanding that acceptance is driven almost exclusively by test scores and GPA/class rank. Look at the common data set and you will see the 50% for test scores and the percentage in the 10% of the HS class. OOS is supposedly more competitive but If you got the numbers you get admitted.

is clemson rolling admission?

My understanding is that high stats applicants who quality for merit aid will here something in early November. Everyone else will have to wait until 2/15.

DD and I were talking about Clemson today. She seems to think that she would hear back in a week. She has a friend currently there, so that may be his experience.

@ilovebillyjoel She typically will not hear back from Clemson until Feb as it states on their website. Historically, they do begin to send acceptances to high stats students beginning late Fall( Nov/Dec) They do not have rolling admissions. My DS16 was awarded provisional acceptance as a junior and he didn’t hear until early December. Prepare for a long wait.

@collegenervous21 No, Clemson does not have rolling admissions.

Would love to hear from Clemson parents here–DD not being in top 10% (she’s around 12%) keeps her from the 15K scholarship. Did you submit percentage when you applied? Also, I hear that you can get instate after junior year.TIA

Assuming your school officially ranks that would come directly from the school with her transcript. According to the website they may waive the top 10% requirement for outstanding test scores.

Do decisions tend to come out earlier than February?

@collegenervous21 See what @carolinamom2boys posted above. Some high stats kids will receive acceptance letters in Nov/Dec The rest assuming application in by December 1 will be sent out Feb 15. If you apply after December 1 you will be notified sometime after February 15.

My daughter got in to the business school last year. She heard around December 20 via a Tiger Town Bound envelope.

She had SAT in 1400s, 4.25 GPA, lots of APs and honors. Decent extras, nothing stellar.

However, because she went to a competitive high school where nearly 100% goes to college afterwards, she ended up being around the top 15%, instead of top 10%. So, instead of $15k a year, she only got $7500. :frowning:

I applied last Sunday but have not received an email confirmation for my portal or status page or anything. I am concerned that something went wrong. I called the admissions office and they said I would get an email within a few days but it didn’t come. Did this happen to anyone else? How long does it normally take?

You are not alone. DS is in same boat.
