Wondering what the chances are for an OOS Act: 29 gpa: 3.54 private school that does not rank
You’re gonna need a lot more information than that. What ECs do you have? Is that your weighted or unweighted GPA? What state is your private school in?
Your Act score definitely has you in the running. Since Clemson is mainly a “numbers school”, that is really good for you. My question would be around the rigor of your classes. Have you challenged yourself by taking rigorous classes? When we met with an admissions officer on our tour, he emphasized Test Scores, GPA, AP classes, and demonstration that you are not looking to coast in your senior year. The other main factor is what major are you declaring? Some, such as nursing are super competitive. Others like the school of business accept more students making it slightly easier.
@Zline how much do you think Clemson values growth? My freshman year I only took 1 honors class and normal English, My senior year I will be taking 4 AP’s including AP English Literature.
@amxn15 Clemson admission is based on GPA, rank, rigor and test scores. ECs are weighed very little in the admissions process.
What purpose is the optional essay if not to discuss extracurricular activity?
My daughter applied and was accepted without the optional essay. However, she knew she was also going to apply to Calhoun honors and wanted to say her “Clemson essays” for the honor college application.
@Sgunn3 - Not sure about how much they value growth. Based on our conversations with admissions, they will love the fact that you are not trying to “coast” in your senior year and that you are staying engaged and taking hard classes. Please remember that having a strong GPA and high test scores are the primary factors in their decision making. Good luck if you decide to apply!
Yes I know. I just meant like he needed more information in general for chancing.
