For a boy from the Washington DC area who doesn’t want to be in a frat and is undecided for major
Going to need a little more info; do you have a budget? Have you visited both schools? If so, what did you think? What kinds of things are you looking for in a college? Do you have any ideas on majors? What do you like to do for fun?
Urichmond has a “one college” policy so that you don’t have to be in a specific college for specific majors, you can pick and choose your major freely.
URichmond is in a city, Clemson is isolated.
Clemson will have a more rah-rah vibe.
Yes, I’ve visited both schools. Both have beautiful campuses. I want good weather and a good social life-- lots to do, ability to play club sports or intermurals, lots of parties, etc. But I don’t want to go to a school that’s dominated by Greek life. I’d like to be able to meet people from all over the country. Thinking about majoring in biology or psychology, might want to be a doctor or psychiatrist, but I’m undecided. I’m concerned Richmond will be dominated by Greek life and that students at Clemson might be too conservative/religious. Those are some complaints I’ve read about both schools. But at the same time both seem like great schools! Thanks for any help you can provide.
Greek life is big at Clemson too, but because there are more students there, the percentage of students in Greek organizations is lower.
You might want to email each university and ask them what is scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night on campus: lectures, films, board games, concert, intramural games, everything. Then ask yourself if each university offers something you’d be interested in or not. If the answer is yes, well, we’ll need to figure out more differences
Of course the covid restrictions might be different and it’d impact their answer, so if you can hear directly from seniors who would tell you about Spring 2019…?
To me their respective locations would matter a lot.
Well, since you you visited both, you know they’re quite different. A small private LAC in a medium sized city vs. a large suburban/rural state flagship. Did you prefer one environment over the other?
