I think he meant to say that MSU was America's pioneer land grand institution.

Wisconsin is also a top land grant school.

Correct barrons. Funny how some can miss that.

I didn't know Michigan State University was a top grant school, but I'm not that surprise due to it's student body size.

Part of the managing of grant schools are the universities students getting a job/ passing school.

coolbreeze. Do a Google search on "land grant universities." That should help clarify what it means. :-)

You are quite right Barrons:

I missed both Wisconsin and Illinois, which would go between Cornell and U-Cal Davis.

rjkofnovi, yeah, thanks for the clarification!! "Pioneer" is the word that I should have used instead! Founded in 1855 as the nation’s first land-grant university, MSU was the prototype for the 69 land-grant institutions established under the Morrill Act. Rhodes, 16; Churchill, 14; Truman, 13; Goldwater, 11; Marshall, seven; and Mitchell and Gates, one each. More Rhodes Scholars in past 25 years than any other Big Ten school.
I know that's what you meant Sparkeye7. That statement is all over the entry signs on campus! Actually MSU was founded as a land grant college. It wasn't even named a university until 1955.

Coolbreeze, I hope by now you have made up your mind to attend MSU?!
