I am a senior who is currently undecided between these two schools, I think that I could do well at either one. Could anyone tell me anything they know about either school, my biggest concern about Clemson is getting good student-teacher interaction and my biggest concern about Wofford is the size. Any information is appriciated.

Will both of them be affordable to you and do both of them have sufficient breadth and depth of course offerings in your intended or possible major(s)?

I’m a junior at Clemson majoring in civil engineering and I’ve never had a problem getting in touch with professors even in large classes. They encourage you to use office hours (they are underused) and if you can’t meet with them then they’d be happy to make an appointment with you. The difference between Clemson and a lot of large public universities is that there are not many graduate students so there is a lot of emphasis on undergraduate education. In addition, you can also get involved in research projects with professors as early as your freshman year through a program called Creative Inquiry (more info here: [Creative Inquiry : Clemson University](<a href=“Creative Inquiry + Undergraduate Research | Clemson University, South Carolina”>Creative Inquiry + Undergraduate Research | Clemson University, South Carolina))

An advantage of Clemson over Wofford is that there will be a lot more courses and resources depending on what your major is. (since the college is a lot bigger)

Definitely let me know if you have more questions about Clemson or if I didn’t address anything here!

I am a junior at Wofford and I thought I wanted a big school in high school. I started to look at things and really couldn’t make up my mind. My aunt is a professor at a big school (I won’t say which), and she has office hours and all of that, but they are under used. And sometimes when you are falling behind or are overwhelmed, you are afraid to go to your professor, so it just gets worst. She gave me this tip, and it has been priceless. My professors KNOW ME. They know when I am falling behind and they invite me to coffee, I have worked for proffessors, babysat for them, gone to their houses, traveled with them… They are amazing. My professors also know each other. This makes a HUGE difference. They can suggest things to me and I can work with professors from different departments together to get answers to things in a way that helps me.

Don’t be afraid of Wofford’s size. It is what you make it. If you choose to meet tons of people, you can, but if you don’t, you can totally operate in your group of friends. You will never know everyone, and people really don’t know your business as much as people say. This is a family and a support system. I TRUST my peers. I know that other students, whether I know them or not, have my back. I think trust is a huge thing. People at Wofford are just NICE.

The size of Wofford is also really awesome when it comes to alumni. The alumni are so committed and really care about students, and because there are less of them, it’s almost like they know they have a greater role. I have worked for a different alumnus every semester.

Wofford is also challenging, but the size and support from proffessors makes it doable. And yeah, we are smaller, so less courses, but you can take a Wofford degree and do anything. I a sure of that. You get a broad view, but you will also get experience that makes you competitive for everything you want to do.

Lemme know if you have any other questions.

Wofford is a tremendous school too academically. The only difference is the type of school that you want (large school vs. small school)

both schools are fantastic but which degree would be the best recognized nationally? I may want to move out of the southeast at some point

I think a degree from Clemson would be more recognized since we have more alumni and due to the fact that a lot of people have probably heard about Clemson (whether from football or due to the fact that we are a major research university etc…)
