Clemson University vs. Virginia Tech.......need to make a decision by May 1st!

I am having a hard time deciding between these schools and I have to make a decision by May 1st so my parents suggested that I make posts to see what people know about the two schools and which one sounds more favorable. So, which one of these schools would you choose and why? Also, what do you know about these two schools?

THANK YOU!

what are the financial situations at both and what do you want to study?

Financial Situation: My parents have said that they have saved enough to be able to pay for both schools in full so money is not a problem according to them.

I want to study civil engineering but if I drop out of civil engineering like 30% of people do, my backup is environmental science

People associated with Clemson seem to be REALLY serious about their football. According to a Clemson parent I know, reserved parking spaces in the tailgating area go for up to $40K per season. The kids I know who are there like it.

Everyone says that VT’s campus is good-looking. You might want to check into the climate: I have the perhaps-mistaken impression that it likely to be more hot and humid at Clemson.

VT is significantly larger than Clemson, and the overall stats of the students at Clemson are stronger. Of the kids I know personally who go to the schools–4 in total, so not a big sample–the most intellectual is at VT, the most talented in math is at Clemson.

Clemson has a very specific vibe, that some love and some are not fond of. Football and other sports are really big. I like the feel, because even if the only thing you have in common is Clemson, that is enough. It is smaller and very southern and welcoming, however it’s not too diverse and the near town isn’t a large city. but the town of clemson is nice as well as near cities. I agree that VT may have a strong general intellectual pool, but clemson is ranked high on the upcoming school lists, which means even though it is already in good standing now, it still has potential to become better.
