So, I was perusing collegeboard and I stumbled upon CLEP, and it seems really awesome (almost too good to be true..lol). But I have a few questions about what CLEP is and how I can take full advantage of the tests.

How often do they offer the test? Is it like the SAT where it's only offered every month, or can I just take it any time I feel ready?

Is there a limit to how many tests I can take at one time?

How long does it take the average person to prepare for the test? Do I need a comprehensive understanding of all the material?

CLEPs are on-demand tests, available anytime. Instead of registering with CollegeBoard, you make an appointment to take the exam at a testing center that offers it. The CollegeBoard site has info on where CLEP is offered. At our testing centers, students can take only one test per day. I’ve heard of other testing centers where students can take more than one.

Preparation time for the exams depends on your background and the knowledge you already have about the subject. I advise purchasing CLEP-prep materials (REA books are good) and subscribing to Instantcert.com (code 85722 = discount) for prep materials and member-feedback on the exams.

These exams aren’t easy. I’d equate the difficulty level to scoring a 600 on an SAT II test or a 3 on an AP.
