I was wondering what W&M's Policy is on CLEP Exams, and if they do accept them, do they require you to take them before graduating high school?

I've been planning on taking CLEPs during the summer before I go to college to ease some GRE's. Does the summer count as "before graduating" or "prior to matriculating into college" and is this generally accepted at selective universities?

If CLEP's are not accepted can I take a couple AP exams in my freshman year in college?

Lastly, is there a limit on the number of credits obtained outside of W&M?

"William and Mary does not participate in the College Board CLEP program "
- page 54 of the course catalog

It doesn’t specifically prohibit taking AP tests after entering, but I don’t think you can get credit for that.

Malventuo is correct. W&M does not accept CLEP tests for credit. Only AP and IB exams as well as college courses can be awarded credit.

Curious as to why you wouldn’t take AP exams this spring. It will be difficult to take them after your freshman year as many of the classes you take at W&M your freshman year are the courses AP exams might get you credit for. Not even sure the College Board allows you to take AP exams once you enroll in college.

You could take college courses over the summer at a local community college and receive credit for them (assuming you do not enroll their as a degree-seeking students).
