hi everyone! I am an international student and AP is not offered in my school. I am in US for the summer and though I would take a CLEP but dont have much information about it?? Does it affect how I look in my college application? Can somebody please enlighten me about the exam?

I’m not sure how much AP or CLEP tests help in admissions, but it’s nice to start school with college credit.

thanks a lot!! anyone else?

Many colleges and universities will award you credit for introductory courses if you score well enough on the CLEP exam. Some will not give you credit, but they will place you into a higher level course. Some colleges and universities will not give you any credit or placement for the CLEP exams. I do not know if any of them consider CLEP scores for admission. You can find out if the colleges and universities you are interested in award credit/placement for CLEP exams by searching for CLEP or “credit by exam” on their websites.

The CLEP exams cost about as much as the AP exams, but are shorter and are offered in fewer subjects. If you learn that the college you plan to attend accepts CLEP credits, you probably can arrange to take them before you have to register for classes there. Many colleges offer them on site.

Good luck!

thank you that was really helpful :)

Some schools charge to apply your credit on your transcript. Kind of trivial, but, just so you know.
