What were your stats when you applied?

hello? tenchar

98th percentile SSAT, A/A- average.
ECs: played three sports, captain of one team, in school's concert band, school literary magazine.

The most important thing about applying to boarding schools is usually the interview. Even if you have a lower SSAT score or grades, they're more interested in the interview. Good grades and a strong SSAT help show them that you're smart, but the interview tells them more about where you could be in four years, how well you would adjust to boarding school and how you could grow with and contribute to the campus, and that's of a lot of interest to them.

bump........

Yeah I got into both

99 percentile SSAT

A/ A- average at a public school
Sports, music, etc.

Strong interview (I'll reiterate- that's a very important part)

were u the leader of any clubs or sport thingies or did u have any honors that might have helped you?

Played a few sports, but not a captain or leader of anything. I definitely got in because of academics and the interview

what makes an interview really good?

Social skills? And being smart plays into that.

If your interview demonstrates this, along with the positive qualities you will bring to the campus, I would say that makes an interview 'really good'.

Of course, your academic record is extremely important.

I only applied to Exeter:
99 percentile SSAT
straight A's
already took:
Calculus BC (AB subscore): 5/5
SAT II Math IIC: 800, Chemistry: 800
Currently taking Multivariable Calculus
SAT: 800 Math, 790 Critical Reading, 790 Writing (official SAT score, but because I took it before high school, it doesn't count...as far as I know)

EC's: President of Math Club...demonstrated passion for math and science.
long, interesting interview.
I was also accepted to Choate and Andover.

were u homeschooled?

did anyone else get in?

Rejected due to the low SSAT, though had a fantastic interview
Going to Baylor in fall, which is also a good school I believe

I got in to both 4 years ago with a 97 SSAT, 1 strong sport and average other ECs.

Oh yeah. I should mention that I was applying four years ago, too.

Hah same here

Sorry

ssat: 90-95
ECs: debate society, senior center volunteer work, cross country varsity, JV wrestling, track, symphony orchestra, some sort of piano ensemble, summer course online
grades: a to a- avg
Other: in honors precal, physics I, foreign lang II or III (skipping I)

I've already got the 90-95 ssat this year, so i know i can get that next year, and some of the ECs (debate, senior center, piano ensemble, summer course)are stuff im planning to do next year. my current school doesn't split teams into V and JV, but the one im goin to next year will. i might instead take the summer course at a university if i get in (rather than online), but im gonna just barely make the app deadline, which is gonna reduce my chances of acceptance into the program. so do you think these stats would qualify?

What does this have to do with College Admissions?

A lot of the people that have gone to exeter/deerfield in the past probably don't look at the high school board anymore.

I currently go to Andover, but I like Deerfield very much and would certainly recommend it to someone.

icantspellmyname : I'm not homeschooled, but I do take cross classes at highschool and community college.
