Clinical Research Opportunities

Any tips or guideline on finding a clinical research opportunity--not associated with a program?

Thanks

Use the resources at your college/university to find opportunities (not in college? Please just relax, in that case). Make connections and always, always, ALWAYS (!) leave a good impression. Smile, make jokes (if appropriate), ask them about their work (people LOVE talking about themselves). When you're a shadow or a research intern, doctors are allowing you into their professional world - whether it be for a day, a week, or a summer. That's fairly intimate and trusting of them, wouldn't you say? Follow-up with Thank You! notes/e-mails and keep in touch. I did with a particular neurologist in CA who now practices in NYC, and I got myself an amazing clinical research internship @ an equally esteemed hospital MONTHS after the deadline. There's not much more to it.
