My son is about 2 months away from making Eagle Scout. It will not be in time for the Nov. 30 deadline for many college applications. Is there any smart way to include this fact on applications? I know there is debate whether or not ES tips the application. It's just looking like the whole process of approval and actual scheduling of his project will be a slower process than expected. He will finish it by Feb when he turns 18. I told him to write about it in his essays. Just wondered if there are better options.

When he actually receives the badge you can send an “application update” to the colleges noting this major achievement.

I would suggest listing your son as a Life Scout and Eagle Scout candidate. My son had completed all but his final Board of Review when applications were due last year. He stated this on his activities sheet and did very well in the admissions process.
And yes he did make Eagle.
Good Luck.

This is all exactly what we need! Thank you!

Agreed. Put:

Eagle Scout Candidate – designation expected December, 2010
