Cloyne vs. Martinez Commons

Hey so I'm a transfer student and I've got a week to decide between the cloyne co ops or martinez commons apartments. I like cloyne because it's super social and it sounds like the parties are pretty cool. The reason I'm hesitant to go there is because of the reputation of loudness and constant party. I'm a partier but I'm also a light sleeper and really want to be able to go to bed on weekdays when I have class. I like martinez because I would get my own room and share a bathroom with 4 people as oppose to way more. I'm just scared it'll be hard to make friends at martinez because the apartments seem to be more isolated and I want my transition into Cal to be as smooth as possible in regards to social dynamics. PLEASE give me feedback on either!

I would 100% pick Cloyne.

Cloyne will definitely have the more social scene and you’ll also meet a lot more people. Martinez is apartment style and most people living in there will probably mostly associate with the 3 other people they live with. That is not to say you cannot meet people at Berkeley if you live in Martinez, you’ll just probably have to look elsewhere (clubs, societies, etc.)

I would recommend Cloyne because it gives you a group of people to hang out with automatically just by living there, and you’ll be able to meet a lot more people easier. But if you want a slow and conservative transition into Cal I would say Martinez.
