Hi all! I’ve never used college confidential but I feel like this website well definitely help me with my questions. So I’m currently a senior and I’ve committed to the University of Vermont! I’m definitely considering rushing and being a part of a sorority, but the only thing holding me back is that I’m planning on playing club softball at uvm as well. Which means I’ll be gone for a good amount of weekends in the fall and some in the spring. I’m also a nursing major which will also keep me very busy. Will I be able to handle being apart of a sorority and playing a club sport? Is it doable, or should I pick one or the other? Thank you in advance for your advice!!
I was in a fraternity, played varsity sports and was in an engineering program (meaning a lot of tough classwork). It is doable. It will put a premium on your time and very, very good study and time management skills are required.
My fraternity was “a living group” type environment and so the time commitment to the house was not excessive. My daughter was in a sorority that was service oriented and required a pretty good time commitment. She ended up droping out because of the time required. Be sure you know what your time commitments will be for the sorority and all the other things you do in college. It is an easy trap to fall into to get over committed.
