Are clubs as important during college? Compared to self-volunteering at hospital and internship, how significant are pre-med clubs?

not important unless you actually do something worthwhile or get a significant leadership position (president, VP)

Realize that what is defined as worthwhile might vary from person to person.

I think that involvement as a whole is an important component, and you don't need to be in a leadership position for every organization you're involved in, but leadership experience is important. The thing is though, you could a be a lowly member/peon in an organization that you're really passionate about, and get way more out of it than being vice-president of some prestigious organization you don't care about.

In general, most pre-med clubs suck, though they can occasionally be a good source of information. You should definitely extend yourself beyond just the pre-med organizations though.
