Just wondering how long it took for you to get a leadership position on one?

One club I founded and basically run by myself (my VP never has to do anything but participate, since I'm always here, and my secretary only writes down stuff during our meetings when I goad her to. My treasurer's been helpful with the financial forms this year, but I still make most of our financial decisions). I also started an academic team (which was an offshoot of the first club), and I basically wrote our entire study curriculum and organize everything. Another club/team (debate) I've been in since 10th grade and became President basically by being the only veteran member left this year; that one's not as difficult since the club's been around for awhile and we know what we're doing. I'm also secretary in drama club, but we haven't had any officer meetings this year so far, so I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing. I am living proof that unpopular freaks can beef up their resumes just as efficiently as cheerleaders and football stars.

haha karajannra, i am one of those "living proof that unpopular freaks can beef up their resumes" people too...basically...i started most of the clubs at my school..:) and the ones i didn't start, i am basically the sole reason why the club is still alive..but otherwise, it took me 2 years from moving here to get leadership positions in class gov't..and stuff...

There really isn't a time that measures how long. If you are really anxious for a club, then start one! I've begun two clubs at my school, and both have reached pretty good levels of involvement. (this is after serving on office for a couple others)

Depending on how competitive of a college you want, however, it's not club office you want to be focusing on. It's School (ASB), State, Regional, and National. Those are what set you apart and distinguish you from the many other applicants. It's not hard to become an officer at your school, but the higher up you get, the more skills and experience you need, and the more outstanding you will be. That's why I'm State President. :DDD

(if you want some leadership advice just PM me! I've helped many aspiring young leaders with tips and suggestions and I'd be more than happy to help you!)

^what's asb?
