Hey, I’m a high school senior going to Harker in California. I’m super interested in applying either ED1 or ED2 to Claremont McKenna, but I’m not sure what my chances look like. I’d be going in as a pre-med (so most likely a Science Management major), and I was interested in how pre-meds tend to do at Claremont McKenna. How easy is it to maintain a high GPA (3.8+) as a CMC student and are there any pre-med advisors that can help me on my path to medical school? I was looking at Pomona as well, but CMC seems like a better social scene for me plus my brother goes to CMC as well so I figure that would help my chances a bit more at CMC. I have a 4.1 weighted GPA, with a 1560 on the SAT, 35 on the ACT, and an 800 on the SAT2. I’ve taken 10 APs throughout high school and I’ve scored 4s and 5s on almost all of them with the exception of a few 3s on Calc BC, Chem, and World. I also founded a chapter of a national entrepreneurship/biz organization in my city as well as a medical club at my school. I’ve been a part of my school’s journalism program for the past 4 years, as a podcaster and columnist and have also done biomedical research throughout high school. I have over 500 hours of community service, volunteering at an elderly home, hospital community foundation, tutoring underserved kids, and donating PPE equipment to front line health care workers. I’ve shadowed physicians for about 100-200 hours, and also work as a paid assistant for a small corporation. What are my chances of getting accepted as an ED applicant vs an RD applicant? Also, is there any advice that you could give me for the CMC supplement, personal statement, or alumni interview? My current Personal statement topic is about research and my future aspirations but I was thinking abt changing it to smtg about leadership/civic engagement. Ideas/chances?
