just out of curiosity @oceantriumph are you from Cali? Another state? International?
Iām from another state! @Burrowsc Feel free to message me if you want to talk more about this.
1 week until decisions! Do you know anyone else applying ED?
@oceantriumph Gotcha, Donāt know anyone else applying ED personally. So Nervous!
@Burrowsc It sounds like you have a GREAT chance to get into with your statsā¦
Iād go as far as to say Iām almost 100% sure Iāll see you next year XD
With so many people from where I am applying to traditional big name schools, it really seems like CMC is a hidden gem!
Do you have any connection to CMC? Just asking cuz I didnāt meet a lot of people from Pennsylvania when I visitedā¦are you a recruited athlete? @Burrowsc
@oceantriumph Nope, not a recruited athlete. I Found about CMC when my father moved out to Los Angeles and I was really looking into pursuing a liberal arts education, and CMC was up there with the other top schools in California. I like the small class sizes there as my high school only has ~140 kids per grade, and it seems to have a perfect Niche for what I want to study, Econ and Government. Hope to see you there one day!
@oceantriumph and yeah some kids from my high school who are looking at schools like UPenn, Berkeley, USC, Dartmouth havenāt even heard of CMC. I do agree with you about it being a āhidden gemā. I do know PA is one of the less represented states so Iām not surprised you hardly saw anyone from PA.
is it 5 pm eastern time or pacific time?
@cakewalk123 5 PM Pacific, 8 PM Eastern.
Hi! How does early acceptance through Questbridge work?
I also applied to CMC ED1. I am really hoping I get in, as it has been my first choice since September of 2016.
My stats: 35 on the ACT (breakdown is 36 writing, 36 reading, 35 science, and 33 math), about a 3.5 unweighted GPA (not great, I know). I go to a small, highly ranked private school in DC.
I am an EMT at a fire station, and I have around 800 hours of community service hours for volunteer EMS work alone. I have also volunteered as a caretaker at my local church. I have also worked as a lifeguard for over three years. I have played four years of varsity lacrosse and three years of varsity basketball. I have played travel basketball from sixth grade through eleventh and club volleyball. I volunteer with the American Turkish Association of Washington, DC, for a total of around 30 official hours of community service. I have other EC but Iām not as passionate about those.
I would like to study neuroscience and theology at CMC. Long-term I would like to work on policy in the criminal justice system, with a focus on practices that are actually detrimental to the health (specifically mental health) of prisoners, both while incarcerated and once they are released. Best of luck to everyone who has applied/will apply!
@hoppergoals Best of luck! You have great stats! The GPA means nothing without contextā¦are you in the top 10% of your class? That is a better indicator since schools are so different!
You seem like youāre great at sports and have a passion for policy reform! I hope to see you there next yearā¦keep us updated with the decision!
(also to answer your question, QB is for high achieving students from low-income backgrounds.)
3 days!
So nervous @oceantriumph
@Burrowsc Donāt be! Youāre an amazing candidate! I can already see us next year in Claremont meeting and joking about how you ever felt nervous about getting in The admissions office cares A TON about demonstrated interest so really ED + your stats and youāre good. I have my fingers crossed!
@oceantriumph hoping youāre right! Should definitely meet up at cmc if I get in!
I am so nervous as well. I live in New York City and applied ED1!
Crossing my fingers for Friday night for all of us.
@bluegal66 Tell us about yourself! Any stats? Major? Why youāre interested in CMC? We may be future classmates so Iād love to get to know you a bit
undeclared major but possibly neuroscience or international relations
SAT: 1500
ACT: 33
GPA: 4.2 on a 4.0 scale. S
I am interested in CMC because my uncle lives in Los Angeles and I visited it and loved it. I was looking for a small liberal arts college and it really fit the profile of what I wanted, and when I visited I loved it.
Extracurriculars: 7 years of club volleyball and captain all 7 years, 4 years of varsity volleyball and my team was 2 time state champions, interned at a hospital in the city for 4 months last summer, professional youth choir member and we tour around the world and sing in Carnegie Hall in the city. I have a babysitting/tutoring company. 300+ community service hours. Student body president.
AMAZING recommendations from my teachers. I did a program outside of school last year with my chemistry teacher who wrote one recommendation.
I know CMC is super competitive but I am crossing my fingers!!!
@bluegall66 You sound like a great candidate! Iām starting to understand that CMC EDers are really self-selected. It sounds like they have an amazing pool going, but I def hope you get in Keep us updated.
Also, your description of your search for a small liberal arts college matched my search exactly! In terms of being pre-professional, offering personalized help, and just being gorgeous it checked off all boxes for me. Just 2 days left!
