nice to meet you rohan...I'm still waiting for my MOO stuff...hope it comes soon.
hey...can you do me a favor? can you tell me what communication(s) you've got from Midd lately. I've got the orientation etc packet with which came the orientation booklet and the bedding order/travel/host family forms. And then I got a set of finanical aid forms...forms that have to be filled out to confirm my aid offer from the college. That was the last thing I got.
What else have you got...just need to know?
Thanks

well other than what uv mentioned i can only think of the medical forms offhand..... il check and let you know if i find anything else

Thanks a lot rohan...yup, I've already mailed the medical forms.
Appreciate it.

Akshay

p.s. Which school are you from in Bombay...and how did you hear of Midd?

I was in the Cathedral and John Connon School until the 10th grade , and then i left to do the IB at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School..... hearing about Middlebury .... well i guess thats coz its one of the best liberal arts colleges

Yea...I just got my orientation confirmation. I'm in the SH5 group...the intermediate level backpacking. Hope it'll be fun!

Hey, I'm going to Midd too, but I just got back from vacation. I wish I lived in some exotic place like you all seem to. I'm from a very small town about an hour from Chicago, but at least that means I'll be better used to the weather and the "ruralness" of Vermont. I want to major in International Studies and chose the Jane Austen seminar for my first choice.

Really...that's cool! What language are you taking for the intl relations major? And will you be taking a beginners course or do you already have a background???

I'm going to start French this fall (and winter and spring) and then take the intensive beginning German class this spring. I took Spanish in high school, but I think that French and German would be useful and I want to try something different. I'm kind of scared, though, to start two new languages. Hopefully, I'll be able to take a couple of Spanish classes to keep up with the language once I get a bunch of my other classes out of the way.

Wow...that's quite a load! I'll be taking Spanish 101 in the fall...and that'll be my only language for my Midd 4 years. I hope to study abroad in Spain...but I know absolutely zilch spanish. How difficult is it to learn?

I'm sure you'll be fine with learning Spanish. It's really similar to English especially if you have a good vocabulary (a lot of Spanish words are almost the same as somewhat obscure English words). I was always bored in my Spanish classes, but I bet they'll be good at Midd. Do you speak any other languages?

Hey! You can find out your seminar on Midd's website. Go to BannerWeb and click on Student Services at the top once you log in. Then click Transcripts. It lists your seminar choices and your other class choices, but it also has the seminar you got placed in. I got the Jane Austen one!

yeah... i got the internet economy etc one.... anybody else doing the same?

Shoot...I got placed in Tibet & the West...which was only my 2nd choice seminar. My 1st choice was Communism & Fascism.

Any idea if I can get my fys changed?? Thanks for any advice.

Oh and zonked...you havent replied to my mails for a while!

I don't think that you can get it changed, but at least you got your second choice. I know a couple of other people got their 2nd choice, too, and I know someone who got his fifth choice. That seems kind of ridiculous to me, I would be really angry. Oh well. I hope we get our roommates/housing info soon!

lol yeah i got like, my fourth choice. it's okay. here i come, central eurasia!

Hey Jess...which one is central eurasia????

Also...when do we know what commons, roommate etc we've been assigned???

Anyhoo...for thos of you that write me emails...I wont be able to check them for a few days so dont be angry if I dont reply! =D

Tata!

central eurasia: oases, empires, and nation-states.

i'll be studying the formation of countries like uzbekistan (oh how random i feel...). and unfortunately we don't know all the housing stuff until they send it to us, sometime in late july (ARGH!!! CANNOT WAIT THAT LONG!!!). have fun on your hiatus...whatever it's for and wherever it is.

I'm also 2009 middlebury. And I can't till September, or the next couple of weeks till we get our housing assignments! Reading about Middlebury only makes me more anxious!

One question I would like to ask to all the other International Students is what do you intend to wear to the celebrations dinner, it says to wear your national costume. It sounds fun, but the national costume in my country is little more than a flax skirt. Is anyone else the same?

I do suppose that a suit would be acceptable in any circumstances though, as the national costume went out of fashion 200 hundred years ago ;)

Anyway, looking forward to seeing everyone August 31!

hey ruzzy, where are you from?

hey kids,
how come there are only liberals in midd? lol
where i live, san diego, is a pretty conservative area, and i didnt like my school for leaning heavily toward republicans... well midd will be a better place, but i also dont like the fact that its too liberal..
i have gone through the facebook and all i see is liberals and very liberals
quite funny...
