UT Austin is a very good school. I just applied to CMU and Cornell (Dyson). Havent heard back from Cornell yet. You think you might go to CMU then? @transfer125
@Transfernation I think so! I’m still waiting to hear back from Brown though. What about you?
Yeah Im super stoked about going to CMU. Just meeting cool, passionate people from all around the world is gonna be amazing
@Transfernation thats so awesome! I’m really excited. I wasn’t expecting to get in
@Transfernation got rejected from Brown but I’m super excited to go to CMU!
Anyone else heard anything back yet?
I still haven’t
Well just got my rejection letter for SCS. I feel pretty awful about it Good luck to everyone!!! i’m wondering why I got my rejection so late when everyone else got their rejection earlier…
My guess is they progress the applications through rounds of culling. You were probably in the final round. Sorry to hear about the rejection, i’ve had several already myself and it definitely stings. I still haven’t heard back from CMU but am optimistic I will get a response this week.
@BruiserBrigade Thanks! I found the letter on my portal completely by accident. I was surprised that on the portal it said it was sent May 9, but I haven’t seen it until May 13 (And I checked every single day many times). But Good Luck! I hope you get in!
Received my acceptance into Tepper! No notification- it just showed up on the portal.
@BruiserBrigade
Can you share your status with us please?
Hey Vincent, sorry to hear about your rejection.
Did you get into anywhere else thought?
Would you mind sharing your status and the reason for the rejection if you hear from them by any chance?
@YoungKimochi I will most likely go to either UNC or USC.
Unfortunately, both Carnegie and most other schools did not give any specific reason. I only got the cliche, “you’re a great candidate but we’re very competitive,” answer. I really wish that they offered more information, so that I could address my weaknesses.
My weak points were:
- Had one W and the low course load resulting from it
- High-School suspension for alcohol (wan’t a big incident aside from the fact that it was alcohol)
- SAT score (doesn’t apply to Carnegie)
- Had a GED and a messy high-school career
I guess you can pick and choose which one got me rejected, but I really do not know.
@Vincent1997 You’re kidding, right? With all due respect (emphasis on ‘due’), “All of the above” (and more?) is the likely answer. Here’s hoping you have success addressing your self-described weak points.
@SkepticalOfMost Okay… very harsh answer, but those don’t negate my achievements though
@Vincent1997 i agree. that answer was very rude. i personally wouldn’t worry about it. carnegie is the top school for cs/cse and perfect applicants are rejected every year. don’t worry about it and instead focus on and be excited about the universities that did accept you.
@cercit20 I appreciate that. I am super excited about being accepted to my current Universities! I definitely didn’t wouldn’t have stood a chance before CC.
Also, congratulation on your acceptances! Where will you attend? Seems like you got a few to choose from.
@Vincent1997 i am planning on going to northeastern (in boston), BU (still waiting…), or university of washington. it all depends on my fafsa from both schools! i’m also a community college transfer btw. do you know where you plan to attend yet?
