CMU=nerds???

Hey i was wondering on how the social environement is at CMU. I myself like to go to parties on weekends and not study 24/7 and ive heard most CM students study like crazy and have taken up the nerdy steryotpe. is this true?

well, though I'm going into architecture and therefore will not have any free time, I still plan to party.

Yes, my entire life is spent in front of my computer. One time the Internet connection went down, and I went into a coma for two days. Oh God it was so horrible. I shudder at the memory of the day when my precious Internet went away.

Seriously, get a clue. Do you honestly think all 5000 undergrads here do nothing but study? Obviously you either haven't visited or just didn't bother to notice the large groups of people spending time outside. Come on, think before you post.

thats what it is -- a stereotype.

and the class of 2010 will change that. dont worry. ;)

Uhm, actually...if the Internet connection went down for like, a day... I might freak.. a bit. Because I spend like..at least two hours online.. a day.

But uhm, geeks have been getting a bad rap. It's not like we stay insides 24/7 THE SUN!! IT BURNSSSS! AHHHHHHHH A lot of us drink, a lot of us party. And the rest of us still go out, to the movies, mall, to eat, whatever. I'd think the percent of people staying in Friday nights to study is like, wayyy low. So chill out dude. S'all good.

^my friends think im a geek for studying..like...monday night :p

but yeah im a really big nerd...im NOT going to prom because my principal said i COULDNT bring my lap top and hw?!?!?! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?! MY OWN PRINCIPAL...the MAN who is supposed to advocate the progression of my academic knowledge :(

like seriously if im paying like 300 dallors for this prom business shouldnt i be doing something productive...like three dimensional calculus...way cool!

yea, *** man. that's bull.
i'm not going to my prom either!
something about dressing up/having to buy a dress?
what is that!! i could use that money to pay for WoW
or towards getting a new computer!
please, i'd rather talk to people online at home....

LOLLLL. We're being so awful.
*for serious, I'm not going to my prom. But not for those reasons. More like.... plans gone wrong. But I'll deal. I'm actually thinking of going to NYC or Philly that night. Kind of like a fun night in the city. Hope it works out well.

i have alittle close knit circle of friends in a chat room...were all very comfortable...we dont socialize outside the circle...but the second i have to do work...i ex them out...convienent huh?!

ok im done lolll

i wasnt going to prom either up untill yesterday...and i was going to do the same exact thing...go to ny...but then my friend talked me into it! i wasnt going to go because of messed up plans too and also because id kinda rather spend the money on a vacation...but idk now i kinda wanna go...im probably going to go away with friends for that weekend too...damn ill be broke :/

theoretically you could just go to prom in like a sweat shirt or something. That happened to someone I know, his date went in a sweat shirt and he was ****ed lol.

EDIT: why the **** is p1ssed a banned word?!

is there any class of 2010 site?

we can't. my school won't let you in.
when i went two years ago, some girl and guy came in in jeans, and the advisor started to make them leave, but then they were like hey! just kidding, and changed.

tehre's taht beyond sanity thing. that probably has links to other sites too. other than that, i dunno.

http://cmu.beyond-sanity.org/

but yeah, I'm pretty much a geek, but I'll party etc, not just a little either :D

and yeah, there was a "black tie" dress code for our prom.
