CMU, RPI... to late?

I'm currently a sophomore attending Shaker Highschool in Latham, NY (as of now I'm halfway through my third quater). Thus far in my highschool career my grades have been less than great. On average, I would say mid to low 80's. I'm in all regents courses and by my senior year I probably will have taken no more than 2-3 ap courses, and a few honors programs. Recently I had a rude awakening when I realized that highschool is almost half over. I've straightended out and as of now I have low 90's in every class. I plan on staying in the 90's until graduation.

Given that I keep my grades in the low 90's for the next 2 1/2 years, I do great on the SAT's, and I have plent of extra curricular activities, is it still to late to get into a decent computer science/engineering school? I would hate to think that I lost my chances of getting into my desired college[s] due to the simple fact that I was an dolt up until recently.

Any replies are apperciated.

CMU will be a reach but you never know. RIT should be a good match if you write good essays explaining your situation without making yourself sound whiny.

Why are you aiming for low 90s? Aim for 100's!!! Seriously study hard and have the 100s to show for your epiphany.

Low 90s seem like a 3.3-3.5 depending on your high school. If this is the case, you really need to pull it up and definitely ACE the SAT's (2100+s).

Thanks for the reply. I aim for the highest possible grade I can achieve (which usually ends up in the low to mid 90's).

Also, I failed to mention in my original post that, without sounding pertentious, I'm already semi-accomplished in the comp science field. I'm fluent in c++, php, and I'll have several certification by the end of my senior year.
