@birdballs We recently learned about Ole Miss Summer College (30 day residential)…take courses for credit, also has a research option…if you have minimum of 15 high school credits and at least a 3.0 you can get in (deadline June 1…earlier for research option). It had various program options, engineering, computer science, several non-stem, honors track, etc. It has a program cost, but if ACT score or SAT score meets a threshold there is an automatic scholarship that covers the program cost, if they are a little lower then scholarship for partial cost. The full program fee (without any scholarship) is fairly reasonable compared to many programs (a little over $2000). Not necessarily “prestigious” or “highly competitive”, but a solid enrichment option for the summer. And…if tests scores are great, then free or reduced cost. http://www.outreach.olemiss.edu/schs/index.html

^ Is your kid going to SCHS? My D was just accepted and will be attending the second summer session. BTW, she applied last year to SAM’s and was rejected but took two summer community college courses and it helped lighten the load for this year. My S attended AP/EA at CMU. He is there now.

Yes, my S16 will attend second session as well. We are fortunate to have qualified for their automatic scholarship with certain ranges of test scores…which made it workable for us since an airline ticket is needed to get there (we are in pacific northwest). Do you mean your son now attends CMU?

Yes! My D will be at SCHS hopefully taking the CS and Phil/Logic classes. Has your S gotten his course selection? Yes, my S is a junior (rising senior now) at CMU in the school of design- industrial design major. He loves Pittsburgh.

My D also qualified for the scholarship based on SAT scores (1510 on CR+M) so it was a great deal. I really hope they both like it! We are lucky that we can make it there driving but still a long ways off. My D loves the northwest- she has her best friend there and visits her.

Anyone from nyc got it yet? I am so anxious right now!!!

Any new acceptance/denial? also AP/EA

I got rejected. I called them and they said there were 800 applicants and only 30 were accepted.
