CMU vs. UC Berkeley for business?

Hello! Now that the college admissions process is over, I have been accepted to six colleges: the university of pittsburgh, brandeis university, wesleyan university, ucla, uc berkeley, and CMU. I received a full tuition to pitt, a $26,000 merit scholarship to brandeis, a $36,000 merit scholarship to wesleyan, almost no money to UCLA, and a $30,000 scholarship to CMU. I still haven't heard back from uc berkeley yet. I really want to go into business, but at the time I applied to cmu, I only applied to the Mellon College of Science. I didn't apply to the Tepper School. At Uc Berkeley, I got accepted as an Economics major, which means I can apply for the Haas school of business my second year of college, and have roughly a 45% chance of getting in. However, since I live in pittsburgh and my mom wants me to stay closer to home, she says that it is possible to transfer to the Tepper Business School.

I really like UC Berkeley though, and I want to get the whole college experience. I don't really want the next four years of my life to be like high school, where I live at home and with my parents. In addition, the internships around the UC Berkeley are excellent, and I feel I would gain so much from the san fran environment. After being rejected by the UPenn wharton business school, I still dream of getting in there for graduate school. And, it appears that the Haas school of business is one of the top "feeder" schools for the wharton school. Money is not really an issue with my family right now, and so I'm just trying to figure out where to go. What do you guys think of the opportunities and business programs at both Uc berkeley and cmu? Thanks! :)

The opportunities are great. However, Pitt can serve you well too. Full tuition is tough to pass up. How much debt would you need to take on to come to Berkeley?

Also Haas isn’t a guarantee. About 50% get in.

Haas is significantly more prestigious than Tepper. But it is extremely hard to get into Haas. But if you’re very determined, you’ll most likely get accepted.

Thank you for your answers! i know that haas is kind of hard to get into, but if i go to berkeley, i will try extremely hard :)

Haas has actually been raising funds to increase their facilities (increase the number of classrooms, add more faculty, etc) so they can accommodate more MBA students, and accept more undergrad students starting from freshman level. Maybe it will take them a couple more years to achieve that goal.
