well i used the search function and found a good thread for general information about co-ops. what i didnt find is specific information about each house. would nebody care to rank them, vouch for one of them in particular?

There are 35 or so, all very different. Two have about 150 people (Casa Zimbawe and Cloyn?), some 10 or so people. Most seem to have about 50 or so people. Kingman is popular amongst my friends. Some have only women, some have pretty much only African Americans, some have almost only gays/transgendered/bisexual, ect. It's really too much to rank for a general group of people. They are cheap, for most you have to do a little work, but food is there (Ithink you generally have to prepare it to eat, as in, it's usually not, besides dinner, prepared for you), and besides that, I don't know. Go to the co-op site. It's for some people, and some houses work well with some people, whereas the same person in other houses might hate it. You have to apply and rank order. Room selection is done partially by how many semesters you've spent in the co-ops. Many host parties.

the Davis house is great, not too big or small, not out there culturally, nice house, great location. There are a few you should avoid, too wild or way too crunchy.

Best is for you to check them out while the semester is in session.

well im Muslim, and want to avoid the wild and "crunchy" ones. what ones are the quietest ones?

The personalities of the houses tend to change a bit each semester because some people come and some people leave. Your best bet is to tour all the ones that sound good to you.

"well im Muslim, and want to avoid the wild and "crunchy" ones. what ones are the quietest ones?"

Generally the smaller ones will be quieter. It is best to visit to make a decision, however.

Actually, people in coops are very liberal and open-minded, it's a good place for a Muslim.

The one on Euclid is pretty quiet and studious, as are most of the ones on Northside except for Cloyne. Warning: the quiet ones are REALLY quiet. A lot of the houses are a nice compromise, not too quiet nor wild. the smaller ones generally.

I'd recommend calling the Coop office and talking with some student reps, they should be helpful.
